How do I pick a book that is a GOOD FIT for me?
Use the "I PICK" method!
I choose--Choose a book you are interested in reading.
Purpose--Ask yourself, "Why do I want to read this?"
Interest--Ask "Does it interest me?"
Comprehend--Ask "Do I understand what I am reading?"
Know--Ask "Do I know most of the words?" (See Five Finger Test below.)

- Read a page in the middle of your book.
- Put up a finger as you come to words you don't know or understand.
- 1 finger up (thumb) this book is pretty easy for you.
- 2 fingers up (pointer and thumb) forms an L and stands for a good learning book.
- 3 fingers up forms a W for warning. This may be a frustrating book.
- 4-5 fingers is a stop signal. This book is too hard for you right now.
